For the last few years I have been bringing flower arrangements into the kitchen area on the floor where I work.  When I first started I think most people thought the company had decided to provide flowers. I am usually the first person in the office on a given day and no one saw me arranging the flowers. Gradually the word got around that I was the culprit.

I work for a large organisation and there are several teams on the floor. I had people in other teams coming and thanking me for the flowers which was wonderful. I would normally not have any interaction with these people and now we chat regularly. Flowers give me so much joy and happiness and it cost me nothing to share what I had in my garden with my workplace.

My arrangements are colourful, whimsical and contain unusual flowers with no cheap fillers. They last the week in the office environment and quite often get taken home by someone on the Friday.

The secret is that I pick in the morning at first light, put them into a bucket, drive to the office and then arrange them in a suitable vase from the collection that has built in the office. Amazingly people have brought in vases to add to the collection. Each arrangement deserves the right shape vase - which in the office is not always possible and compromises are made. Local fresh flowers straight from the garden that are never out of water.  I do not use floral preservatives but the water gets changed every couple of days to keep them fresh.

During winter of this year - I had nothing to pick. I live bayside in Melbourne and we had a mild winter and cold spring - so spring flowers were sparse. The kitchen had no flowers for about 7 weeks and people were talking about going to a florist and buying flowers to put in the office. My flowers were missed!

I have been bringing in flowers again and I have had so many pings and comments that people want me to sell them seeds and plants. I do not feel right doing commerce in my place of business so hence this website.

I am not sure if this site will reach many people outside my work contacts but who knows. Perhaps this could be the start of something new in my life.

Thanks Deborah
